well define "your own mod".
do you want to make a completely new model with new textures (aka something no one has ever seen in the game)? or do you just want to do the basics of changing how something looks by changing it to another item in the game? or how to put different music in the game?

it links to various mod tutorials. there is a music tutorial, renaming armor and weapons to fit others, making completely new armors and weapons, and whatever else your interested in.
